NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS
What do evaluations involve?
Step 1 Interview: Dr. Micklewright begins with a conversation to better understand your questions, and where you are struggling, so that she can design a testing session that provides answers.
Step 2 Testing: Dr. Micklewright will explain how to do all of the puzzles, brain games, and activities, as she administers them to you in a comfortable office (or virtually). The testing session is interactive and may last up to a couple of hours.
Testing can be done in person or via telehealth.
Step 3 Discussion: Typically we can get you results 1 - 2 weeks after testing; sometimes results can even be provided on the day of testing.
Step 4 Share Results: You will receive a full report that pulls everything together and gives you a plan of action. It can be for just you, or you can share it with your family, school, or medical team.
You are seeking answers or a change in your life. You aren’t alone in feeling nervous or uncertain about the process.
Most people are not thrilled by the idea of being "tested,” but clients often share that it “wasn’t as bad” as they had expected or that they actually enjoyed it.
Perhaps those nerves you are feeling before the evaluation is excitement or anticipation. Most people are motivated by the prospect of gaining clarity, insight, and a clear path forward. Congratulations on taking the first step toward identifying the “missing pieces” of your puzzle.
To prepare for your appointment: Get a good night’s sleep, eat something, bring your favorite beverage, and remind yourself that you cannot fail neuropsychological testing.
Take your medications as directed. If you take an ADHD medication, let your provider (as it may be best to skip it on the morning of testing).
